Australia Pacific LNG

CLIENT: Origin & Aker Solutions
LOCATION: Curtis Island , Queensland
COMPLETION DATE: 2014
project overview:

Australia Pacific LNG, a 50:50 CSG to LNG joint venture between Origin Energy Limited (Origin) and ConocoPhillips is an LNG facility in Queensland with a 30-year life cycle.

The Walloons gas fields cover an area of approximately 570,000ha within petroleum tenures held by Australia Pacific LNG. The gas fields are located within the local government boundaries of the Maranoa, Western Downs, and Toowoomba Regional Councils.

DBM Vircon’s Scope of Work:

DBM Vircon assisted with the engineering and design of the Nitrogen skid for the upstream portion of APLNG project. The design included the full multi-disciplined 3D modeling, piping stress analysis, structural analysis, lifting studies, and the production of design drawings, piping isometrics, and shop detail drawings.

Highlights & Challenges:

With multiple skids being fabricated offshore, DBM Vircon’s challenge was to design and detail the skids in a manner that fostered repeatability during fabrication and ease of installation. The concept of delivering the front-end engineering all the way through to fabrication deliverables was not something typically completed in 2014 and is still a rarity to this day. Utilizing a highly-skilled team in-house we were able to implement fabrication philosophy during the design phase to reduce the time spent during the design and fabrication phases.
