The Indiana Department of Transportation I-69 bridge underwent a significant remodel to improve safety and traffic flow on I-465 and I-69 where they connect on the northeast side of Indianapolis. This project aims to improve safety and traffic flow by building high-speed, high-capacity ramps that reduce weaving and merging.
DBM Vircon’s scope of work consisted of creating a detailed 3D model of the bridge structure. This structure is a 700+ foot long, 1100-ton steel superstructure featuring eight-foot-tall, horizontally curved weathering steel plate girders. DBM Vircon’s modeling encompassed all essential components to ensure the bridge’s structural integrity and functionality. Project tasks included:
By modeling these elements and adhering to design specifications, DBM Vircon delivered over 300 drawings for the project while staying on schedule. Our efficient teamwork and streamlined processes minimized the need for Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring a smooth project flow.
DBM Vircon delivered the project one week ahead of schedule and achieved an estimated 15% cost savings through efficient resource management and proactive problem-solving.
It is our unique combination of experience, expertise and technology that turns complex data into intelligent and context rich models.
