Life At DBM Vircon: Joshua Lewthwaite

Life At DBM Vircon - Joshua Lewthwaite

Cadet Construction Modeler – Auckland

What is your favorite thing about working for DBM Vircon and the work you do?

One of my favourite things about working for DBM Vircon is the encouragement from senior staff members to progress and learn, whether it has been helping me with my training or just a positive word of support. This has been fundamental for learning.

“Taking on paint re-work on the NZICC project was great exposure to working closely with a client and being trusted with making decisions that had a real-world impact. While this was a tiny piece of that project, this has had a great impact on my learning and career. “

How has your career been during your time at DBM Vircon?

During my short time at DBM Vircon I have been exposed to a wide variety of types of work, facing new challenges with every different project. While difficult at times it is always very rewarding.

What are some of your personal and professional achievements?

A recent professional achievement was taking on a paint rework for the NZICC project. My co-worker Loc and I were given the task of figuring out and applying paint codes to every primary piece of steel across the entire building. This was a great exposure to working closely with client and to be trusted with making decisions that had a real world impact. While this was a tiny piece of that project, this has had a great impact on my learning and career.

One of my achievements which would fall under both personal and professional is that at the time of writing this, I am on a six month secondment in the Philippines, I am very proud and honoured to have this opportunity.
