The DBM Vircon Project Managers on the Chase Center, Warwick Brough and Apollo Peralta joined the crowd of 1200 construction team in San Francisco for the Topping Out Ceremony of the Chase Center, the home of the Golden State Warriors.
The team were invited by SME Steel to be part of the traditional ceremony where the last beam is signed by all who worked on the project and lifted into place.
Chase Center is an 18,000 seat sports and multi-purpose entertainment arena in Mission Bay, San Francisco scheduled to be completed for the 2019/2020 NBA season.
DBM Vircon was engaged by SME Steel Contractors to carry out design assist, 3D modelling and steel detailing of the primary and secondary structural steel for the arena bowl and roof. The design assist scope involved 3D Stick modelling and design development of non-standard special connections in conjunction with SME Steel and the engineering team from Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA). Working from 2D sketches from engineer DBM Vircon developed 3D connections for design review.
DBM Vircon and SME recently submitted the Chase Center into the Tekla BIM awards.
