Melville Island Bulk Fuel Facility Project Details:The Head client, Ezion Holdings Ltd provides offshore marine logistics and support services to the offshore oil and gas industries. This expansion is to meet the fuel storage and distribution requirements of the oil and gas multinationals that are operating in the Northern Territory of Australia and the Timor Sea.
DBM Vircon's Scope of Work:DBM Vircon’s scope included the structural design and detailing services of three identical 100ML bulk storage tanks, 30m in diameter and 15.2m high with a central column support. The battery limits were the underside of the tank to the nozzle flanges and appendages. Our team also designed and detailed the transport cradles required to enable the rolled plates for the Melville Tank Walls to be transported from Perth, Western Australia to Site.
Melville Island Bulk Fuel Facility Project Highlights & Challenges:
- Due to the compressed schedule, plates for the roof and walls were selected in the first week to enable materials to be ordered to suit the construction schedule.
- DBM Vircon carried out early option studies to ensure that the site construction time was minimized via the selection of materials for the roof.
- Our team designed the structural system to suit the transportation limits from Perth to Site.
- As the shop detailing was part of the scope it enabled this to commence to completion of the detail design. By doing the detailing in-house it provided seamless coordination and communication between the engineering and detailing teams.
