181 Fremont

Client: The Herrick Corporation
Capex: $500 million USD
Location: San Francisco, California, USA
Completion Date: 2017

The 65-story 181 Fremont building is an 802 ft. mixed-use skyscraper in the South of Market district of San Francisco, California.

181 Fremont Project Overview:

The tower contains office space on the lower 33 floors, and residential units and amenities including a two-story open-air terrace on the upper 15 floors. The building has a direct connection to the rooftop park atop the adjacent Transbay Transit Center from the fifth floor. The structure uses a traditional steelwork core for stability in conjunction with the mega frame design and moment frame perimeter steelwork.

DBM Vircon's Scope of Work:

DBM Vircon was responsible for detailing 11,000 tons of steelwork for all aspects of the build. The scope included buckling-restrained bracings and dampers in the mega frame design due to the seismic conditions of the San Francisco area.
